Story of the wine
In Dog’s year (2018) we brought from the Valencia Way of Santiago a nice and funny wine whose name come from the pet that saw Chozas Carrascal start and grow. “Nela” shared the love of the family and the staff for raising up this winery and their work for making Author Wines, and one of the best wines of DO Utiel Requena, made from 100% Bobal grapes, our local variety. We see in “Nela”, from exceptional fruits, the love for humanized nature, and humanity harmonized with creation.
From vineyards located between 800 and 850 m above sea level, in a climate where is Mediterranean climate with Continental influences throughout the year, soil conditions are the best one for growing vines because those soils are the same as the surrounding mountains. First there is a natural compost layer, then limestone at the roots level and sandy soils underneath, which helps draining very well.
In september 2014, we started harvesting organic Bobal vines. Then the whole vinification process happens in concrete tanks. The maceration lasts for 2 weeks and the alcoholic fermentation occurs below 25*C. The free run juice is then aged for 6 months in French oak.
Opaque ruby color with width rim color. Nose full of intense aromas of plums and strawberry jam. Vanilla notes coming through. We find well polished tannins with medium acidity. Round, mature and filled with ripe red fruits. Hints of smokiness and spices in the end. 13% Alcohol. Enjoy it!
